Training School

Jack Hunt School became a Department for Education and Skills designated Training School working in partnership with Deacon’s School, Peterborough, in September 2000.  We have continued from this time to develop our role working with various providers and partners in leading on initial teacher education and continued professional development.  Although Training Schools have ceased we continue much of our previous work in this area.

The school has a long history of working with the trainee teachers from its principal Higher Education partner, the University of Cambridge Faculty of Education (PGCE) the Cambridge Partnership programme, Teach East and the Rutland Teaching Alliance (SD).  Other Higher Education partners include the University of Bedfordshire and University of Nottingham.

The school participates in the DfE school experience programme which is designed to give those who are thinking of becoming a teacher the opportunity to gain some school experience.  To gain information about this please visit the DfE ‘Get into teaching’ site https://getintoteaching.education.gov.uk/getting-school-experience
