2016 GCSE Results

Busy GCSE Results day - eager students rushing to collect their results.  Congratulations to all our students for their hard work.

In previous years all schools’ and academies examination results were measured on how many students achieved
5 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English and Mathematics. From this year all students, schools and academies are measured on how much progress their students make from their achievement at KS2 in Year 6 to when they complete their exams at the end of Year 11. This is known as Progress 8 and was designed to encourage all students to study a broad and balanced curriculum. The Progress 8 measure is based on students’ progress measured across eight subjects and is a comparison of their progress against the progress of all other students nationally.  As the results of all students need to be analysed to calculate this measure this headline figure will not be available from the Department for Education until late September.

Headteacher Mrs Kilbey said, ‘Although we have to wait for the national picture, early indications suggest that this year’s results will continue the unbroken trend since 2011 where students at Jack Hunt School make progress which is well above the national average. Attainment has seen an increase from last year with the overall grade now at a C. The English and Mathematics threshold figure is 55% and the school is particularly pleased that this year 16% of students achieved at least 5 A*-A grades and 19 individual students obtained at least 8 A* and A grades. We are proud of our students’ achievements, work ethic and dedication and I would like to thank all the staff for their hard work.’
