Student Council
We are run by students, for students aged 11 to 18 years old.
We support young people's voice on issues which affect their lives at school.
We are student voice!
The Student Council is the voice of the of the Student body at Jack Hunt School. It is the Student Council that raises the concerns of the Student body to the Senior Leadership Team and campaigns to make the life of Jack Hunt School students the best it can be!
The Student Council has been up and running since 2012 and has continued to grow from strength to strength under the careful guidance of peer elected Chairs. Chairs are usually in year 12 or 13 and are supported by an enthusiastic mixed group of younger students.
The Student Council is responsible for the Senior Citizens Christmas Party every year. This is where we invite people from the local community, hospices and care homes and give them some Christmas cheer! Students design the invites, decorate the halls, wrap presents, make and serve food and host a wonderful festive celebration for the senior citizens of our area.
Student Council organise the Youth Parliament Vote in School and encourage their peers to become more active in the issues which affect them. In addition to this the Council have hosted MPs in the past and grilled them on current issues facing education. Most recently the Council aided the Lord Mayor of Peterborough in a City event and were awarded for spectacular services. We are always ready and willing to engage in community events.
Another event we attend every year is a Student Led Conference which gives us the opportunity to speak to other schools about something that is unique to Jack Hunt such as our Year 7 projects: My World and Create. At the conference there is also a variety of workshops such as team building activities, meditation and boxercise.
Student Council at Jack Hunt is inclusive the doors are open to any and all students who are committed to making Jack Hunt the best school experience for all the students at Jack Hunt.
