English & Year 7 Curriculum Teacher Wins National Award
Dr J Young joined Jack Hunt in September 2021 as an English & Year 7 Curriculum Early Career Teacher (ECT) after having a vibrant career in archaeology and digital learning. Dr Young has quickly embraced her new career at Jack Hunt with students and staff recognising her ability and enthusiasm to teach; she has created a positive impact in school.
Head of Year 7 Curriculum, Ms V Bracken, nominated Dr J Young for her selflessness and caring nature which has made a significant impact on the whole school community. Dr J Young has gone above and beyond with introducing a mini-library in her classroom, so students don’t have to venture far to access reading books and being a former Oxford University student, Dr Young has also supported Year 13’s for university interviews.
The Bronze prize for ‘Outstanding New Teacher of the Year’ was given by Pearson’s National Teaching Awards, sponsored by the Department for Education. Ms Pamela Kilbey, Headteacher of Jack Hunt School said, ‘We are extremely proud of Dr Young. This is an incredible achievement at the beginning of her teaching career’.
