A Celebration of Culture: Pakistan Day and Urdu Language Day at School

Pakistan Day and Urdu Language Day Celebrations at School

On Monday, 24th March, our school proudly celebrated Pakistan Day and Urdu Language Day, organised by the Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Department. The event was a wonderful opportunity for students and staff to immerse themselves in the rich culture, language, and traditions of Pakistan.

To mark the occasion, the school canteen offered a special selection of Pakistani cuisine at lunchtime. Students and staff who were not fasting enjoyed delicious dishes such as Chicken Biryani, Chicken Curry, Naan, and Samosas.

The library featured an informative display showcasing the history, literature, and significance of the Urdu language, while Year 7 students took part in a variety of engaging activities during break and lunchtime. Additionally, Sixth Form Urdu students led interactive sessions within the MFL Department, introducing Year 7 classes to the beauty of the Urdu language and Pakistani traditions.

A highlight of the day was the recognition of our Sixth Form Urdu students by the Pakistan High Commission. Certificates of achievement were awarded to them, presented by Mr Hebblethwaite, in appreciation of their dedication to learning Urdu.

The celebrations were a great success, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of Pakistan’s language and culture amongst students and staff alike.
